As part of its ongoing efforts to support the animal production sector, Doctors Company organized a distinguished scientific seminar in November 2017 entitled “Challenges of Preventive Protocol.” This seminar brought together elite international experts specialized in parasitic disease control, led by Dr. Stephan Roché, International Sales Manager, Dr. Ben Dehaeck, Global Product Manager for anticoccidials, along with Dr. Eddy who shared his practical expertise in this field.
The seminar began by highlighting coccidiosis, described as the “hidden killer” due to its significant negative impact on poultry and livestock flocks, despite being difficult to diagnose in early stages. Dr. Stephan Roché detailed the symptoms of infection with this disease, which include decreased growth rates, reduced feed conversion efficiency, chronic diarrhea, as well as increased mortality rates in severe cases.
second session, Dr. Ben Dehaeck.

In the second session, Dr. Ben Dehaeck presented a comprehensive overview of the latest preventive strategies for combating coccidiosis, focusing on the importance of precise implementation of sanitary and biological measures on farms. He emphasized the necessity of implementing appropriate vaccination programs and selecting effective antibiotics, taking into account suitable dosages and optimal timing for treatment.
Dr. Eddy addressed the growing challenges associated with drug resistance in his presentation and provided an integrated protocol for dealing with this problem. He explained that carefully planned rotation between different medications, with specified rest periods, can significantly help limit the development of resistant strains of coccidial parasites.

The seminar witnessed notable attendance from specialists in veterinary medicine, nutrition, and animal production, with over one hundred participants from various institutions and companies working in the sector. The open discussion sessions provided a valuable opportunity to exchange experiences and pose practical questions about the daily challenges faced by breeders in combating this disease.
The seminar concluded with practical recommendations on how to implement preventive protocols suitable for different production conditions, emphasizing the importance of ongoing cooperation between producers, veterinarians, and pharmaceutical companies to effectively address coccidiosis challenges.
This initiative by Doctors Company comes as part of its comprehensive strategy to support the animal production sector and provide integrated solutions for health challenges facing breeders, contributing to improving production rates and reducing economic losses resulting from parasitic diseases.
